Network Engineer, Senior
About the position We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to support a large enterprise customer by delivering secure network design and implementation services across on-premises, data center, and cloud environments. This role is part of a multi-year strategic initiative focused on transforming the organization’s data processing, handling, and warehousing capabilities. The ideal candidate will work closely with project management teams, internal IT departments, and managed services teams to ensure seamless integration, security, and performance of network infrastructure. This is a dynamic role with opportunities to contribute to additional projects as they arise. This is a full-time that can work remotely within the United States and will need occasional on-site support at the Downers Grove, Illinois office.
Responsibilities
- Deliver secure network design and implementation services across on-premises, data center, and cloud environments.
- Work closely with project management teams, internal IT departments, and managed services teams to ensure seamless integration, security, and performance of network infrastructure.
- Contribute to additional projects as they arise.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with network design and architecture
- Experience in network engineering with enterprise environments
- Expertise in internet routing protocols and network security concepts
- Hands-on experience with Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)
- In-depth knowledge of firewall configuration, policies, and rule management
- Solid understanding of DNS (zones, records, and troubleshooting)
- Experience with SSL and secure communications
- Experience with Cisco routers and switches
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls
- Familiarity with F5 load balancers
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
- Must have a car, as this position requires travel between location and the transportation of equipment
- A valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance will be required
- Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
- Must demonstrate a “can-do” attitude
Nice-to-haves
- CCIE or PCNSE certifications preferred
- Exposure to OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) / Oracle databases
