UTS - Temporary Clinical Research Data Manager at UNC Chapel Hill (hybrid)

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring a Temporary Clinical Research Data Manager. This role oversees the design, development, validation, and management of research databases and datasets for federally funded clinical trials and longitudinal studies, ensuring data quality and compliance. The Data Manager collaborates with investigators, statisticians, and research teams to support study operations, reporting, and regulatory requirements. Highlights

• Design, build, and maintain research databases such as REDCap for clinical trials and observational studies.
• Develop data collection instruments, case report forms, and data dictionaries.
• Conduct data cleaning, validation, quality control, and prepare datasets for statistical analysis.
• Generate reports, dashboards, and analytic datasets to support investigators and study teams.
• Support clinical trial start-up, implementation, and data coordination across multiple studies and sites.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), metadata, and reproducible workflows in alignment with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
• Train and support research staff on data systems and best practices; serve as a subject matter expert.
• Contribute to manuscripts, presentations, grant submissions, and respond to ad hoc data requests.
• Required qualifications include a Master’s degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, public health, or related field, with experience in clinical research data management and proficiency in REDCap or similar EDC systems.
• Preferred skills include proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R, SAS, or Python, experience with longitudinal studies, and knowledge of regulatory requirements.
• Compensation is $36.00 per hour for a full-time temporary appointment estimated for 6 months, not to exceed 11 months.
