Bookkeeper| Trades & Contractor Specialist

Trades in the Black is a growing financial services firm built exclusively for trades contractors in the Twin Cities and beyond: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, and general contractors. We handle bookkeeping, financial reporting, and monthly advisory that helps contractors finally understand their numbers, keep more money, and qualify for financing they've been denied for years. We're hiring a sharp, self-directed contract bookkeeper who knows the trades world and wants to grow with a firm that's building something real.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate monthly books for trades contractor clients in QuickBooks Online
• Perform bank reconciliations and transaction categorization
• Track job costing per project - this is critical and non-negotiable
• Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports
• Flag financial anomalies and insights ahead of monthly client advisory calls
• Manage AR/AP tracking per client
• Coordinate with our CPA partner on quarterly reviews
• Onboard new clients into our bookkeeping system cleanly and efficiently

Requirements

• 2+ years bookkeeping experience required
• Trades, construction, or contractor client experience strongly preferred
• QuickBooks Online proficient or certified
• Job costing experience required
• Remote position - must be self-directed and deadline-driven
• Strong written communication - our clients expect white glove service
• Minneapolis-Saint Paul based preferred but open to right candidate

As our client base grows, compensation moves from hourly to a fixed monthly retainer per client - meaning your income becomes more predictable and grows as we grow. We're building a firm worth owning and the right person builds it with us. Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
