Senior Lead Animator - Feature Film

Join a world-class animation studio in Salt Lake City, Utah , as a Senior Lead Animator for feature films. We are seeking a highly talented and experienced animator with a strong artistic foundation and proven leadership abilities. In this role, you will guide and mentor a team of animators, ensuring the highest quality of character performance and storytelling. You will be responsible for bringing complex characters to life, collaborating closely with directors and supervisors to achieve the creative vision for our projects. Responsibilities: Lead and supervise a team of animators, providing artistic direction, feedback, and technical support. Animate complex character performances, ensuring emotional depth, believable acting, and adherence to story requirements. Collaborate closely with directors, story artists, and other department leads to interpret and execute the creative vision. Establish and maintain animation quality standards for assigned shots and sequences. Review and approve animation work from team members, providing constructive criticism and guidance. Troubleshoot and resolve animation challenges, developing creative solutions. Contribute to the development of animation techniques and workflows. Mentor junior and mid-level animators, fostering their artistic and technical growth. Attend dailies and other production meetings, actively participating in creative discussions. Ensure animation meets technical requirements for integration into the final film pipeline. Manage shot assignments and deadlines for the animation team. Stay current with industry trends, software advancements, and best practices in character animation. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Animation, Fine Arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in feature film animation. Proven experience in a Lead Animator or Supervising Animator role. Strong portfolio showcasing exceptional character animation skills, including acting, posing, timing, and weight. Proficiency in industry-standard animation software (e.g., Maya, Blender, Houdini). Deep understanding of animation principles, anatomy, and cinematography. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide clear and effective artistic direction. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Experience with performance capture animation is a plus. Passion for storytelling and creating compelling character performances. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities effectively.
