Senior Data QA Engineer
Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Data QA Engineer to join an established organization in the luxury travel and hospitality technology space for a fully remote, permanent opportunity aligned to the EST/CT time zone. The Senior Data QA Engineer will play a critical role in owning data quality strategy and hands-on validation efforts for a modern, cloud-based analytics platform supporting global booking operations. Responsibilities of the Senior Data QA Engineer include:
- Define and lead an end-to-end data quality and validation strategy across cloud-based ETL/ELT pipelines, transformations, and analytical models.
- Design, build, and maintain automated data tests and regression suites using SQL, Python, and modern data QA frameworks.
- Implement monitoring and observability checks to proactively detect issues related to freshness, volume, schema changes, and anomalies.
- Partner closely with data engineers, architects, and BI stakeholders to investigate defects, validate fixes, and ensure reliable downstream reporting.
- Provide senior-level ownership by mentoring team members, reviewing test logic, and establishing scalable QA standards in a lean environment.
Qualifications for the Senior Data QA Engineer include:
- 5+ years of experience testing and validating data systems, including pipelines, transformations, and analytical models.
- Hands-on expertise with SQL and Python, with the ability to debug complex data issues independently.
- Experience working in cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Azure, with exposure to Fabric, Snowflake, or Databricks.
- Background in small or fast-moving teams, demonstrating leadership, autonomy, and the ability to operate without heavy direction.
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes, data QA or observability tools, and business intelligence platforms.
