- About the Opportunity:
The Product Owner / Business Analyst plays a crucial role in bridging business needs and technical development. This position is responsible for translating stakeholder requirements into clear, actionable product backlog items and ensuring the development team understands and prioritizes these effectively. The role supports the product’s value delivery by managing the backlog, communicating changes, and fostering collaboration among teams and stakeholders. This position contributes to the organization by enabling teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify valuable product features and enhancements
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog to ensure relevance and proper ordering
- Maintain the health of the team’s backlog according to agreed standards
- Translate business needs into detailed and actionable backlog items for the development team
- Communicate changes, tradeoffs, and roadmap updates proactively to stakeholders
- Advocate for the development team and protect their time
- Foster an inclusive work environment encouraging open collaboration and contribution
- Collect feedback on completed work to update the backlog and negotiate release readiness
- Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, Information Systems, engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in roles such as Business Analyst, Scrum Team Member, or other IT-related capacities
- Strong understanding of Product Development and Software Development Life Cycles
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications including User Stories, Features, and Acceptance Criteria
- Proficiency with backlog management, collaboration, and visualization tools
- Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
- Excellent organizational skills and a proactive, problem-solving approach
- Product Owner certification or willingness to obtain one within the first year (e.g., CSPO, PSPO)
Preferred
- Familiarity with UX/UI best practices and incorporating user experience into backlog prioritization and acceptance criteria
