ASEASONED WRITER WITH A PASSION FOR WILDLIFE CONSERVATION (Volunteer) Organization: New England Primate Conservancy (NEPC) Location: Remote Commitment: 10–20 hours per month (flexible) About NEPC New England Primate Conservancy (NEPC) is a biodiversity and wildlife conservation organization that advances conservation through educational resources and multimedia learning tools. Our work focuses on long-term, upstream impact—building conservation literacy, empathy, and informed action to protect primates and the ecosystems they share. Our Primate Species Profiles form the backbone of our educational programs. Nowhere else can one find so many primate species so thoroughly yet concisely profiled in clear, accessible language for broad audiences. These original profiles are widely referenced by conservation organizations, educators, zoos, media outlets, and students conducting research. Position Overview NEPC is seeking a seasoned writer with a passion for wildlife conservation to contribute to our Primate Species Profiles series. This role is ideal for a writer who enjoys deep research, uncovering compelling facts, and crafting well-structured, engaging narratives grounded in accurate information. Writers must be able to translate complex source material into language that is informative, readable, and compelling without sounding academic. Creative writing ability and disciplined factual research are both essential.

Responsibilities

  • * Conduct thorough research using reputable scientific and conservation sources
  • Distill complex information into clear, engaging prose
  • Follow NEPC’s established profile structure and style guidelines
  • Revise drafts based on editorial and fact-checking feedback
  • Meet agreed-upon deadlines consistently

Qualifications

  • * A minimum of 3–5 years of professional writing experience (journalism, content development, educational writing, communications, or similar)
  • Strong research skills and comfort working with source material
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly for general audiences
  • Exceptional attention to detail and factual accuracy
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines independently
  • Excellent command of written English

Background knowledge in biology, environmental science, anthropology, or conservation is highly desirable but not required. Position Details
