Safety Manager - Mine Restart - Papua New Guinea
About The Role Spinwell Global is working with a Mining Operations outfit seeking a high-caliber Safety Manager to spearhead the development and implementation of world-class Health, Safety, and Emergency Management systems. Based at our mine site in Central Province, you will have full oversight of underground mining, surface processing, and complex logistics corridors.
Key Responsibilities
- Visible Leadership: Engage directly with the workforce through site interactions and mentorship.
- Risk Management: Lead site-wide hazard identification (HIRA/JSA) and maintain the Critical Control framework.
- Incident Investigation: Conduct deep-dive root cause analysis (ICAM or equivalent) and ensure 100% close-out of corrective actions.
- Training & Capability: Oversee inductions and competency frameworks, with a focus on developing our local workforce.
- Working Conditions
- Location: Remote Mine Site, Central Province, PNG.
- Roster: Site-based rotational roster.
- Environment: A fast-paced, remote site featuring underground mining and rugged terrain.
Candidates will need to show that they are a resilient leader comfortable in remote, logistically challenging environments. You will possess the authority to stop unsafe work and the influence to change behaviors at every level of the organization. Mandatory Requirements:
- Education: Degree or Diploma in OHS, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years in mining safety, with proven experience in underground operations.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of relevant mining and safety regulations.
- Certifications: ICAM Investigation or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor (preferred).
