About the position The University of Iowa Office of Admissions is hiring a dedicated Assistant Director, California Regional Representative. (100% appointment) The California Regional Representative will be responsible for managing admissions, recruitment, and outreach activities in the West Coast region for the University of Iowa. Primary travel responsibilities will be in California, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington with additional travel possible to meet recruiting needs. Working closely with senior admission team members, this position plans and executes strategies to meet enrollment goals while serving prospective students through the college search process. The required remote location for this position is in Los Angeles County or Orange County California. They will also have the opportunity to: Build relationships with prospective students and families, high school counselors, community-based organization leaders, independent college counselors and others involved in the college search process while also cultivating an active network of local alumni to leverage in recruitment activities Utilize data tools to actively monitor territory analytics, provide reports and activity updates, and recommend appropriate strategies and tactics to achieve enrollment goals. Participate in Regional Admissions Counselors of California (RACC), Regional ACAC’s, and Big Ten Academic Alliance organizations. Responsibilities

  • Managing admissions, recruitment, and outreach activities in the West Coast region for the University of Iowa.
  • Planning and executing strategies to meet enrollment goals while serving prospective students through the college search process.
  • Building relationships with prospective students and families, high school counselors, community-based organization leaders, independent college counselors and others involved in the college search process while also cultivating an active network of local alumni to leverage in recruitment activities
  • Utilizing data tools to actively monitor territory analytics, provide reports and activity updates, and recommend appropriate strategies and tactics to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Participating in Regional Admissions Counselors of California (RACC), Regional ACAC’s, and Big Ten Academic Alliance organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in undergraduate admissions work.
  • Must live in Los Angeles County or Orange County, California and be available to travel extensively.
  • Overnight travel, evening, and weekend work is required.
  • The ability to move boxes and materials up to 40 lbs.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the University Driving Policy requirements.
  • Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies: Preparing and delivering effective presentations Managing multiple tasks and projects with autonomy, decision-making, and time organization. Ability to apply various communications techniques to accommodate a variety of audiences and balance multiple perspectives, including effective listening skills.
  • Demonstrates an extensive proficiency level in the following competencies: Ability to analyze data and/or situations fully and accurately to reach productive decisions. Ability to establish and build healthy working relationships and partnerships with colleagues within and external to own unit

Nice-to-haves

  • Master’s degree.
  • 5 years’ experience working in undergraduate admissions work.
  • Experience working as a regional admissions representative is highly desired.
  • Experience managing a recruitment territory and achieving enrollment goals is highly desired.
  • Experience managing a California recruitment territory is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of the nature, goals and objectives, and operational aspects of a college or university.
