Part-Time Billing Specialist – Family Law Firm
Shaw Divorce & Family Law is a small but busy family law firm dedicated to providing high-quality legal services with a client-focused approach. Our team values organization, communication, and accountability, and we are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to support our financial operations.
- *Position Overview**
We are looking for a proactive and organized Billing Specialist to oversee client billing, monitor account balances, and manage collections. This role is critical to maintaining the financial health of the firm and requires close collaboration with attorneys, staff, and clients to ensure timely payments and proper retainer management.
- *Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and run invoices on a monthly basis
- Monitor client account balances and ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices
- Proactively follow up with clients regarding unpaid balances via email and phone
- Track and manage retainer accounts, including requesting replenishments before balances are depleted
- Work closely with attorneys and staff to stay informed on case activity and billing status
- Communicate professionally, effectively, and compassionately with clients regarding billing matters
- Identify accounts at risk and recommend appropriate action
- Maintain accurate billing records and documentation
- *Qualifications
- Experience in a law office setting (family law preferred)
- Prior experience in legal billing, accounts receivable, or collections is a plus but not a requirement.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients regarding sensitive financial matters
- Comfortable working collaboratively with attorneys and support staff
- Proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously
- Familiarity with legal billing software is a plus (MyCase, LawPay?)
