Game Designer for Educational Sports App (Ages 8-14)
We are seeking a talented Game Designer with experience designing engaging educational apps or games aimed at children. Our platform uses real-life sports teams and athletes to engage students ages 8-14 in reading. You will help redesign our core gameplay loop and learning experiences to be more interactive and engaging. In our current core loop, students read articles about sports and answer questions to unlock players for their fantasy team. This is not an interactive video game, although we are open to reimagining the app for the best user experience possible. We have tested this solution with students and received feedback that our learning experience is too passive and boring, with most students skipping articles to answer questions. We've also received feedback that the learning and gameplay feel disconnected. In addition, fantasy sports gameplay is dependent on player performance in real-life, which fundamentally passive. Due to Name, Image and Likeness Rights, our gameplay and user experience must involve real-life statistics or fall under a editorial coverage. This is a key restriction. Some ideas we've had: 1) Reading and interacting with AI fans in a social media-style feed where students do various activities such as vocabulary, fill-in-the-blank and argument evaluation. These fans will also discuss sports related topics such as science, engineering, math and sports history. 2) Interactive vocabulary and math games with sports themes.
