JOB SUMMARY The Senior Director, Logistics & Sample Management is responsible for strategic and operational leadership of Baylor Genetics' logistics and sample management functions, ensuring accurate, compliant, and scalable pre-analytical operations in a high-volume clinical diagnostics environment. This role provides end-to-end accountability across logistics, sample receipt, accessioning, and related pre-analytical workflows, with a strong focus on operational excellence, scalability, and cross-functional integration. The Senior Director will build and lead high-performing teams, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure operational readiness as the company continues to scale. This role may evolve as organizational needs change. KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Provide overall leadership and accountability for logistics and sample management operations, ensuring consistent execution, quality, and service levels.
  • Oversee end-to-end logistics operations, including kit fulfillment, shipping, courier management, inbound and outbound sample movement, and send-outs.
  • Oversee sample receipt and accessioning operations, ensuring accurate handling, documentation, and preparation of biological samples for testing.
  • Provide operational oversight and integration for third-party remote sample collection services (mobile collection and patient service centers).
  • Ensure effective coordination between remote collection vendors, logistics, and internal accessioning to maintain sample quality, service levels, and compliance.
  • Ensure workflows, SOPs, and standard work are consistently applied across logistics and SMD operations.
  • Lead, develop, and coach managers and senior-level staff across logistics and SMD.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, turnaround time, accuracy, and cost efficiency.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks, risks, and failure points; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Partner cross-functionally to implement process, technology, and workflow enhancements.
  • Support new test launches, volume ramps, systems transitions, and facility expansions from a pre-analytical operations perspective.
  • Ensure logistics and SMD operations comply with CLIA, CAP, NY, and applicable regulatory and quality standards.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation, training, and competency programs across both departments.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to throughput, quality, turnaround time, utilization, and cost.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS Required

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, laboratory technology, operations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive leadership experience across logistics and sample management / accessioning or related pre-analytical laboratory operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in high-growth, high-volume, regulated environments, preferably clinical diagnostics.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and regulated laboratory operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in high-volume clinical diagnostics laboratories.
  • Experience managing distributed or third-party sample collection models.
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Location: Remote/Hybrid
  • Physical Demands: May require walking through laboratory and operational spaces; ability to stand for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Work Environment: Exposure to laboratory and operational environments; adherence to safety protocols required.
  • Travel Requirements: 25-50% travel required.
  • Special Conditions: Must comply with laboratory safety, PPE, and regulatory requirements.
