Experienced Film Editor Needed for 12–14 Min Short Film (Festival Quality – RED Footage)
I’m looking for a skilled and experienced film editor to bring my short film “Happy Birthday Pops” to life. This is a 12–14 minute narrative film intended for the film festival circuit, so I’m looking for someone who understands cinematic storytelling at a high level. We shot the film on a RED camera, so experience handling high-quality footage and delivering a polished, cinematic final product is important. About the Project: This film blends emotional storytelling with moments of humor, so the edit needs to feel grounded, natural, and engaging while still carrying strong emotional weight. What I’m Looking For: Strong storytelling instincts (performance-driven editing) Great sense of pacing and rhythm Experience with color tone and color editing / cinematic look (or ability to collaborate with a colorist) Ability to enhance scenes with music and score to elevate emotion Attention to detail in continuity, timing, and tone Someone who understands how to edit for film festivals, not just social media Responsibilities: Assemble and edit a 12–14 minute short film Shape performances and story in the edit Collaborate on tone, pacing, and emotional beats Add temp music / assist with score direction Deliver a clean, festival-ready cut Deliverables: Rough Cut Fine Cut Final Cut (festival-ready) Open to notes and revisions through the process Please Include: Links to narrative films or short films you’ve edited (festival work preferred) Your editing process/workflow Estimated turnaround time Bonus if you’ve worked on: Festival-selected short films Drama or dramedy projects RED or other high-end camera formats Looking for someone collaborative who cares about story and wants to help shape something meaningful.
