Kelko - Accountant (w/ Civil Construction exp) - Permanent work from home, morning shift
This is a remote position. Job Title: Accountant (Civil Construction) Location: Remote Employment Type: Full-time Rate: 11AUD/hour Job Summary We are seeking a detail-orientated and reliable accountant/bookkeeper with experience in the civil construction industry and strong proficiency in Xero accounting software. The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, and support project-based accounting requirements. Key Responsibilities ● Manage daily bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable and receivable ● Maintain accurate financial records using Xero ● Perform bank and credit card reconciliations ● Prepare monthly financial reports (profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow) ● Monitor project costs, budgets, and job profitability (WIP reporting) ● Process payroll and ensure compliance with local labor laws ● Handle invoicing, progress billing, and retention tracking ● Prepare and lodge tax filings (e.g., VAT/GST, income tax, etc.) ● Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning ● Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and stakeholders ● Ensure compliance with industry regulations and accounting standards Qualifications & Skills ● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field ● 2 years + experience as an Accountant, preferably in civil construction (hard requirement) ● Strong hands-on experience with Xero (certification is a plus) ● Familiarity with construction accounting practices (job costing, WIP, progress billing) ● Solid understanding of financial reporting and reconciliation processes ● High attention to detail and strong organizational skills ● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets ● Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects ● Strong communication and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications ● Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers ● Knowledge of compliance requirements in the construction industry ● Experience with payroll systems and statutory contributions ● CPA or equivalent certification (advantage but not required) Apply To This Job
