Senior Application Development Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a highly technical Senior Application Development Manager to lead teams developing enterprise‑grade payment processing systems. This role blends hands‑on engineering, architectural oversight, and people leadership. You will guide a team of Java developers, drive technical strategy, ensure high‑quality delivery, and collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders across product, architecture and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor teams of Java engineers, fostering strong modern engineering practices, code quality, and continuous improvement. Mentor and encourage professional development in teams. Work with Architecture and own decisions for Java‑based payment systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Remain hands‑on in reviewing designs, frameworks, and proof‑of-concepts using modern Java and Spring technologies. Guide the teams in modernizing existing system with performance, reliability and fault tolerance in mind. Oversee data modeling, API design, and integration patterns across the platform. Partner with product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Ensure CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices are consistently applied. Ensure maintenance of documentation, system reports, and architectural artifacts (UML, sequence diagrams, etc.) Up to 25% travel

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with remote teams. Coach teams in following Agile Scrum methodologies Ability to maintain professionalism and efficiency in meetings in stressful situations 12+ years of development experience, ideally with Java, Spring Boot 5 + years of Management experience Understanding of Microservices architecture CI/CD pipelines and test‑driven development Strong data modeling and system design capabilities. Ability to pick up new technologies quickly and guide teams through adoption, aligning with Architecture Passion for technology, innovation, and building high‑performing engineering teams. Nice to have Skills Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, and enterprise architecture. Experience leading teams through urgent production incidents and root‑cause analysis. Exposure to full software product lifecycle: requirements, architecture, development, testing, and deployment. Cloud experience (Azure or AWS). Linux Shell scripting and OS understanding Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience. For this position, actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition to base pay, this position, based on business need, may be eligible for a bonus or incentive. The estimated salary range for this role is $142,450 - $185,000.
