Experienced Dock Operations Associate – Freight Handling and Logistics Support

Job Summary:

As an Experienced Dock Operations Associate, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to freight handling, including verifying documentation, securing freight inside trailers, and assisting customers with freight and documentation. You will work closely with our team to ensure that all freight is handled safely and efficiently, while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

* Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks

• Verify documentation matches freight description, using current electronic or manual systems
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, such as pallets, straps, and rope
• Recoup or repair damaged freight when necessary
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed
• Perform hostling duties if required
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as required

* Ensure accurate and efficient freight handling and documentation

• Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving
• Meet or exceed productivity and quality standards
• Collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals and objectives
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or equivalent, preferred

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations preferred
• If hostler/yard mule duties are required, experience preferred
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred

Working Conditions:

* Dock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise

• Hours may vary due to operational need
• Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-paced, deadline-oriented
