Experienced Dock Operations Specialist – Warehouse and Freight Handling

Job Summary:

We're seeking an experienced Dock Operations Specialist to join our team at arenaflex. As a Dock Operations Specialist, you'll be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to freight handling, including loading and unloading trailers, verifying documentation, and securing freight inside trailers. Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:

* Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks

• Verify documentation matches freight description, using current electronic or manual systems
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, such as pallets, straps, and rope
• Recoup or repair damaged freight when necessary
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed
• Perform hostling duties if required
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as required

Key Responsibilities:

* Freight Handling: Load and unload trailers, verify freight documentation, and secure freight inside trailers

• Documentation: Verify and complete required documentation and reports, including freight descriptions and weights
• Customer Service: Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed
• Safety: Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
• Teamwork: Work independently and/or as a team member to achieve operational goals and objectives

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or equivalent, preferred

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations preferred
• If hostler/yard mule duties are required, experience preferred
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred

Working Conditions:

* Dock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise

• Hours may vary due to operational need
• Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-paced, deadline-oriented
