Experienced Data Entry Clerk / Remote Analyst – Retail Merchandise Planning Analytics

We're now seeking an experienced Data Entry Clerk / Remote Analyst to join our dynamic Merchandise Planning Analytics team for a 6-month contract with the opportunity for extension or conversion.
About arenaflex's Merchandise Planning Analytics Team
Our Merchandise Planning Analytics team is the backbone of arenaflex's retail merchandising operations. With a team of over 100 merchants and 40+ planners, we're dedicated to optimizing the performance of our Front End (non-Pharmacy) businesses. Our team manages reporting, analysis, and tool building to drive business growth, improve profitability, and enhance customer satisfaction. As a Data Entry Clerk / Remote Analyst, you'll play a critical role in supporting our team's efforts to deliver exceptional results.
Work Environment
As a remote employee, you'll have the flexibility to work from anywhere in the Central Standard Time (CST) zone. Our standard working hours are 8am-5pm, with a one-hour lunch break from 12pm-1pm. While we offer flexible scheduling, we require a minimum of 30 hours per week to fulfill business needs. This role is perfect for individuals who value work-life balance and are self-motivated to deliver high-quality results in a remote setting.
Responsibilities
As a Data Entry Clerk / Remote Analyst, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Own Brand Reporting and Analysis: Own Brand reporting, recapping, tracking, and analysis, including ad-hoc analysis based on business needs.
- Item Level Historical Analysis and Recapping: Conduct item level historical analysis and recapping to identify trends and patterns.
- Item Level Future Looking Forecast: Develop item level future looking forecast to inform business decisions.
- Complex Excel Formulas and Data Synthesis: Utilize complex Excel formulas to synthesize large data sets into meaningful executive recaps.
- System/Tool Used: Excel will be the primary system used for this project.
Top Must-Have Skills
To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess the following top must-have skills:
- Bachelor's Degree and Relevant Experience: A bachelor's degree and at least 3-5 years of experience in one or more of the following: analytics, data science, finance, financial analysis, assortment planning, retail, procurement/purchasing, merchandising.
- Data Analytics Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in data analytics or a related field with a strong understanding of retail merchandising basics (i.e., category management) and merchandising organization structures and processes.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills partnered with storytelling finesse.
- Microsoft Excel Skills: Ability to conduct complex quantitative analysis and build analytical models using Microsoft Excel.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly both verbally and in writing via Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Time Management and Prioritization: Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
- Stakeholder Management: Ability to develop effective working relationships with Merchandising, Planning, Finance, and other stakeholders.
- Retail Math Background: Retail math background; skills such as item level forecasting based on demand patterns or sell through/sales/profit goals, knowledge of sales by type and AUR impacts, all inventory and sales metrics.
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel Skills: Intermediate/Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM/SUMIFS, Subtotals, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Macros, Pivot tables) - CRITICAL SKILL NEEDED FOR ROLE, most work will be done in excel.
- Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Skills: Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Top Nice-to-Have Skills
While not required, the following top nice-to-have skills will be beneficial for this role:
- MBA or Quantitative Analytical Degree: MBA preferred; Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and/or other quantitative analytical degree a plus.
- Data Science Experience: Data science experience.
- Retail Experience: Retail experience.
- SQL Coding, Microsoft Access, Macro Building: SQL coding, Microsoft Access, macro building.
Education / Experience Requirements
To be considered for this role, you'll need to have:
- 3-5 Year Experience in Analytics or Data Science: 3-5 years of experience in analytics or data science, merchandising background.
