Job Description

The Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center (HIPRC) has an outstanding opportunity for an INSIGHT Program Operations Specialist-Lead to join our team. This is a temporary, full-time position for the period 6/22/2026 – 8/07/2026. The INSIGHT Program Operations Specialist Lead is responsible for the management of the Harborview Injury Prevention & Research Center summer program for high school students. This position reports to the HIPRC Program Manager and works closely with the Training & Education Program Specialist and the INSIGHT High School Faculty Lead. The HIPRC administratively sits within the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine in the UW School of Medicine and is a multi-disciplinary specialty center located at Harborview Medical Center Campus. This position will work remotely/online.

  • Instruct and supervise high school interns (70%)
  • Administrative duties related to INSIGHT program including oversight of other program staff members (20%)
  • Serve as liaison to faculty mentors working with INSIGHT program (10%).

To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, business, social science programs, education or other related field. Minimum 1-2 years’ experience managing programs involving student learners, curriculum development, or educational programs. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally in all forms of communications, e.g., verbal, and written, one-on-one and in groups.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint in particular).

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

  • MPH, MSW or MEd degree earned or in progress, with an understanding of public health research, outreach, and communications.
  • Experience teaching, supervising and/or counseling high school students or student interns.
  • Experience with a volunteer program, public health non-profit organization or NGO such as the Peace Corps.
  • Experience in a public health setting.
