Job Summary

arenaflex is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Research Engineering Tools team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the tools and infrastructure that enable our machine learning (ML) researchers to drive groundbreaking improvements in our member experience. As a key member of our Research Agency, you'll work closely with our Studies Managers to identify friction points, design and build engineering solutions, and improve the overall ML research experience.

Job Responsibilities

As an Engineering Manager at arenaflex, you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Managing and mentoring a team of senior and experienced engineers to ensure they have the skills and resources needed to succeed
• Developing the technical vision and roadmap for the Research Engineering Tools team
• Balancing the needs of stakeholders with competing desires and priorities
• Collaborating with our Studies Managers to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions to address them
• Designing and building engineering solutions to enhance the ML research experience
• Improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our Research Engineering Tools team

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have:

• 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, with 2+ years of industry experience in a related field
• Strong software design and development skills in languages such as Python, Scala, Java, C++, or an equivalent production language
• Experience with parallel and distributed computing
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, we're looking for candidates with:

• 4+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, with 10+ years of industry experience in a related field
• Experience leading a developer tooling team
• Experience running and customizing Bazel, or similar build systems (including Buck, Pants, and others)
• Experience working with machine learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and others
