Technical SEO Specialist (Local Search Focus)

We're looking for a technical SEO specialist with strong local search experience to support ongoing client work for residential home service contractors. This is a project-based engagement. Work comes in the form of specific jobs that need attention, rather than a fixed weekly scope. Some ongoing maintenance is possible, but the primary need is a skilled contractor we can bring in when something needs to get done. What the work looks like You'd be supporting established contractors in competitive local markets, helping them rank for the services they provide in specific service areas. Work typically includes: - Technical site audits and prioritized remediation - Schema implementation (LocalBusiness, service types, FAQ) - On-page optimization for service and location pages - Google Business Profile optimization and troubleshooting - Citation consistency across directories (Bing Places, Apple Maps, Yelp, etc.) - Core Web Vitals improvements - GA4 and GTM setup, event tracking, and QA - Canonical and indexation issues Most clients are on WordPress with Elementor, Beaver Builder, or GenerateBlocks. Comfort navigating that environment without hand-holding is a must. What we're looking for - Proven experience with local SEO for service-area businesses - Strong technical SEO fundamentals: you can run an audit, prioritize findings, and execute - Familiarity with GSC, GA4, and GTM - Experience with GBP and multi-location local search - Able to communicate findings and recommendations clearly in plain language Bonus if you have experience with contractors, home services, or trades, or have access to tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs. The setup This is a contract role. You'd be working directly with a small marketing strategy firm.
