Paralegal – Engineering Consulting

Moffatt & Nichol is a global engineering consulting firm. We are actively looking for a Paralegal in Australia to join our Legal Team. As part of the Legal Department, the Paralegal will provide legal assistance to our team in Australia and New Zealand and work under the supervision of an attorney in the US. This role may allow for working from home depending on the candidate’s location.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Acts as liaison between company attorneys, outside counsel, organisations, and in-house employees
  • Assembles, proofs and edits drafts of contracts, leases, licenses and insurance policies
  • Assists internally in analysing documents
  • Conducts research on projects as directed by corporate attorneys
  • May review and ensure the company's compliance with regulations
  • Compiles data from legal digests, encyclopedias and practice manuals
  • Prepares and files legal documents with appropriate entities, as required
  • Counsels on progress of cases
  • May assist with the review and preparation of patent material and applications

Qualifications

  • Paralegal certification; required
  • Law office experience; required
  • 5+ years of experience; required
  • Knowledge of office equipment/software related to position responsibilities
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post-offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Based in Australia

Work is generally performed in an office setting. Ability to use standard office equipment is required.
