Position Overview AKIVA is seeking a Data Conversion Specialist to plan and execute the migration of legacy data into modernized target applications as part of a multi-year public-sector modernization program. In this role you will analyze and map data from legacy systems, develop conversion plans, build transformation routines, and lead validation and testing activities to ensure data integrity across the cutover. You will work closely with client subject-matter experts, development teams, and architects to reconcile edge cases, resolve data-quality issues, and deliver a clean go-live dataset. AKIVA-provided AI-assisted schema-mapping, data-profiling, and reconciliation tools may be used to accelerate throughput and improve conversion accuracy. Key Responsibilities •      Analyze legacy source data and map it to modern target data structures, documenting all source-to-target transformations •      Develop and maintain data conversion plans, including scope, sequencing, dependencies, mock conversions, and cutover strategy •      Build and execute conversion routines — profiling, cleansing, normalization, schema mapping, and error handling •      Lead validation and testing activities across unit, integration, mock-conversion, and user-acceptance stages •      Reconcile pre- and post-conversion record counts, control totals, and sample-based accuracy checks •      Collaborate with client subject-matter experts to interpret legacy data semantics, business rules, and edge cases •      Comply with applicable organizational data standards, security requirements, and change-management policies •      Document data dictionaries, data mappings, transformation logic, and known data-quality exceptions •      Support knowledge transfer to client technical staff through documentation, walkthroughs, and pair-work •      Participate in Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives) Required Qualifications •      Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field — or equivalent experience •      2+ years of hands-on experience with advanced SQL, including complex joins, window functions, CTEs, stored procedures, and performance tuning •      2+ years of ETL experience using Informatica or SSIS — or equivalent experience delivering ETL work using Python or PowerShell •      4+ years of data migration experience including profiling, schema mapping, normalization, and error handling •      Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive ambiguous data issues to resolution •      Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to engage directly with business stakeholders •      Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment •      Must be authorized to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications •      Experience producing formal data-mapping documents and data dictionaries that withstand audit or regulatory review •      Prior experience embedded on a development or modernization team as the dedicated data-conversion resource •      Experience working on Agile / Scrum delivery teams •      Experience supporting public-sector or regulated-industry data conversions •      Familiarity with AI-assisted schema-mapping, data-profiling, and reconciliation tools Tools, Technologies & Frameworks ETL / Conversion: Informatica, SSIS, Python, PowerShell | Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL | Data Mapping: schema mapping, data dictionaries, source-to-target specs | Validation: record counts, control totals, sampling, reconciliation | DevOps: Git, Jira, Confluence | Delivery: Agile / Scrum | AI Assist: schema mapping, data profiling, reconciliation What AKIVA Offers •      Professional development and skill-building opportunities •      Supportive management team with veteran-owned company values •      Opportunity to contribute to impactful public-sector data modernization initiatives •      Fully remote engagement with no required onsite travel •      AI productivity tools and training provided at no cost to employees Comprehensive Benefits Package •      401(k) with generous company match •      Medical Insurance •      Dental Insurance •      Vision Insurance •      Short-Term & Long-Term Disability Insurance •      Paid Time Off (PTO) •      Profit Sharing Join Our AI Innovation Network Interested in staying connected with AKIVA's AI initiatives, research, and opportunities?
