The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Physician (SICU). The Physician (SICU) will function in Surgical Service.

- Accepting applications
- Attending responsibilities for the in Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) team.
- Critical Care consultation in Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU).
- Coordination of patient care among the primary physician, critical care staff and other specialists.
- Performing Critical Care procedures in accordance with Institutional policies.
- Teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, mid-level providers, and fellows.
- Interdisciplinary Treatment Teams, Care Lines/Services and/or committees.
- Ensuring initial and ongoing assessments of patients to identify needs, issues, resources and care goals are provided, in a timely manner.
- Monitoring specific clinical activities for compliance with VA policies, assuring that findings are utilized to modify and/or improve their performance and to facilitate the accomplishments of their goals and objectives.
- Promoting quality in clinical practice by collaborating with Providers, Clinical Programs,
- Analyzing and evaluating the clinical contents of medical records and associated documents, in terms of the quality and appropriateness of clinical care issues, such as adherence to, or deviation from accepted referral/consultation guidelines, standards and/or procedures.

- Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), OR
- Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences.
- Board certification or eligibility in Critical Care (Anesthesia or Surgical preferred)
- At least two years of SICU experience.
- Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.
- For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant. [If the applicant does not claim an ECFMG certificate, facility officials must still confirm that the medical school meets (or met) ECFMG eligibility requirements for the year the candidate graduated.]
