We’re looking for a Technical Co-Founder to take on the CTO role, someone eager to build technology with purpose, create lasting impact, and help us disrupt one of London’s largest and fastest-growing industries valued at over £20 billion. This is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage startup with strong foundations, a clear vision, and expansion plans across the UK, Europe, and the US.
This position will suit someone who has already built a stable professional or financial foundation and is now looking to dedicate part of their time toward building something of their own. It’s ideal for someone ready to take a leadership role in a growing startup while maintaining flexibility in their current career.
What You’ll Be Doing
Take full ownership of the design, development, and deployment of Shyft Clean’s web and mobile platforms
Build a scalable tech architecture that connects customers, cleaners, and operations in real time
Lead the creation of smart tools for automated scheduling, cleaner performance tracking, and operational analytics
Oversee backend, frontend, and API development with a hands-on approach
Manage and mentor a small technical team as the business scales
Ensure data security, privacy, and platform reliability across multiple regions
Collaborate with the founder to define the product roadmap, fundraising strategy, and investor readiness
Represent the company at tech, startup, and investor events as the technical face of the brand
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
35+ years of experience as a senior full-stack developer, ideally having built or scaled a SaaS, marketplace, or consumer app
Strong command of modern frameworks such as React, Node.js, Django, or Laravel
Experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and database management
Proficiency in system architecture, automation, and product scalability
A practical problem-solver who can translate business goals into technical execution
Strong communication and collaboration skills with fluent English
Knowledge of another language such as German, Spanish, Italian, French, Arabic, or Russian is an advantage
Entrepreneurial mindset, able to work independently and thrive in a fast-moving startup
Open to occasional travel for business or investor events
The Commitment
20 hours per week with full flexibility
Remote or hybrid for the next 12 months open to candidates based in the UK, Europe, or the US
Equity-only position at this stage, with a competitive salary introduced post-investment
