Staff Accountant

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

Carlson Family Office is a family-owned financial and investment company with a commitment to diversity and inclusion. They are seeking a full-time entry level Staff Accountant to support real estate and corporate accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Process real estate accounts payable invoices within Nexus (Bottomline) system, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely payments for assigned properties
  • Submit real estate accounts payable invoices to be paid within Microsoft Business Central system, ensuring proper coding and timely payments for headquarters building
  • Support corporate month‑end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking for all properties
  • Ensure accounting practices follow GAAP and internal policies
  • Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and internal control initiatives

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Desire to learn new technology with an inclination for automation and process improvement
  • Positive, professional attitude and excellent customer service skills
  • Dependability along with a strong work ethic and high degree of integrity
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)
  • 0- 2 years' experience in accounting using accounting principles; previous experience via professional internships is strongly preferred
  • Basic understanding of GAAP and standard accounting and finance principles and practice
