Jr. Business Analyst, eCommerce Merchandising

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

About the position The Jr. Business Analyst, eCommerce Merchandising partners closely with Merchandising, Marketing, IT and Operations to evaluate business workflows, analyze data, document and optimize standard procedures, and train end users on tools and processes that support a scalable, growth-driven merchandising organization. This role blends technical analytics skills (data modeling, visualization, integration, and data analysis) with business process knowledge in merchandising and eCommerce. The employee combines hands-on technical ability with strong communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills and can bridge the gap between data and business strategy, turning information into insights that drive informed decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Gain in-depth understanding of merchandising workflows, including the use of Business Central, Salsify, Shopify, and Jira.
  • Document current-state processes (e.g., assortment planning, item setup, forecasting, and inventory control) and identify opportunities to streamline and standardize them.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to recommend process and system improvements that drive efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Ensure documentation is continuously updated, accessible, and relevant.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets across multiple systems to support merchandising, marketing, and operational decisions.
  • Use SQL, Power BI, and Power Query to extract, cleanse, transform, and visualize data from multiple sources.
  • Integrate, analyze, and govern data from multiple systems to ensure consistency, accuracy, and usability across reporting and business workflows.
  • Partner with IT and Merchandising teams to define reporting requirements, develop dashboards, and ensure accuracy and consistency of key performance data.
  • Perform both manual reviews and develop automated audit processes to ensure product and merchandising data integrity across ERP, PIM, and other systems.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis as needed to support business initiatives, uncover trends, or answer one-off questions from stakeholders.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on item setup, data structures, and merchandising processes.
  • Communicate system and process updates, enhancements, and changes to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Develop and deliver engaging training materials (written guides, hands-on sessions, and on-demand learning).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure adoption of best practices and consistent process execution.
  • Troubleshoot system or process issues and provide guidance to teams to resolve challenges quickly and effectively.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of professional experience in a business management, retail analyst, or merchandising operations role (eCommerce experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Power Query, and advanced Excel (formulas, macros, pivot tables, and data manipulation).
  • Experience with data cleansing, transformation, and integration from multiple systems.
  • Strong understanding of merchandising, item setup, and product lifecycle workflows.
  • Understanding of data governance principles, including data quality management, ownership, and process accountability.
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable business insights.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiastic and driven with a passion for product integrity, processes, and continuous improvement. Apply tot his job
