[Remote] Social Listening Analyst

The Social Listening Analyst role involves gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide strategic insights that drive business decisions for a large tech/entertainment brand.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data sets from multiple sources and social platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube) using third-party analytics platforms (Brandwatch and Sprinklr)
  • Analyzing collected data to identify trends, patterns, public sentiment (positive, negative, neutral), and emerging topics. This involves understanding the "why" behind the conversations, not just the "what," and how it impacts the business and social strategies
  • Implementing social listening strategies aligned with overall business and marketing objectives. This includes defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks to measure the effectiveness of social listening initiatives
  • Develop and present comprehensive, custom reports and visualizations to clearly communicate data findings to stakeholders
  • Maintain up-to-date expertise on social media platforms, including APIs, data limitations, and social media culture and trends
  • Prepare data-driven reports on social media trends, best practices, and user behavior for targeted strategy development
  • Utilize social media data insights to inform and refine content strategies, ensuring alignment with audience engagement and brand objectives
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business goals and challenges, and align data analysis methodologies to provide business insights
  • Translate data findings into actionable insights, articulating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Provide informed recommendations to optimize social media and marketing campaigns on an ongoing basis
  • Utilize AI tools to enhance data analysis processes, ensuring more efficient and accurate outcomes
  • Stay up to date with the latest AI technologies relevant to marketing analytics
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to devise innovative research approaches, incorporating machine learning (ML) and AI technologies for advanced data solutions

Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marketing, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of direct experience as a data analyst, with a focus on social network analysis, marketing analytics, or social data
  • Strong understanding of relevant analytical techniques, methodologies, and tools applicable to social listening and be able to demonstrate the impact of their work on business outcomes
  • Expertise using social listening tools, such as Brandwatch or Sprinklr, preferred
  • Expertise in Sheets/Excel
  • Expertise in writing Boolean queries
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience in a client-facing role
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g. LookerStudio, Tableau, or Microsoft Power BI)
  • Familiarity with social tools such as Tubular. Talkwalker, Meltwater, Sprout Social
  • Project management skills
  • Experience with AI and machine learning technologies/methodologies
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python), methodologies, and databases
  • Experience with owned and operated (O&O) reporting across brand channels, analyzing performance metrics (engagement, reach, video views, traffic, conversion indicators) to evaluate content effectiveness and inform optimization strategies
