Find your calling at Mercy! Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups to include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation and consistent with the established guidelines of nursing practice, the goals of Mercy Health System, the Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, the Respective State Nurse Practice Act, the Code of Professional and Business Ethics and the Co-Worker Code of Conduct. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details: Start your nursing career (or your next chapter) with confidence! Mercy St. Louis’ RN Career Path Program helps new and experienced RNs build strong clinical foundations in our Med/Surg service line and then transition into a specialty unit with support, mentorship, and a clear timeline. How the pathway works... Step 1: Start in Med/Surg (12–18 months) in one of these units:
- Observation Telemetry
- General Med/Surg
- Neuroscience
- Neurosurgical
- Oncology
- Orthopedics
- Trauma Surgical Step 2: Transition to a specialty unit (based on readiness, openings, and fit), such as:
- Pediatrics / PICU
- Med/Surg ICU
- Trauma/Neuro ICU
- CVICU
- Emergency Department
- Burn ICU

Qualifications
Education: Nursing degree from an accredited school License: Active RN license in Missouri (or compact, if applicable) Certifications: Current BLS (AHA) Why Mercy? Transforming the Health of Our Communities Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
