Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Entry Operator to join our team on a part-time, remote basis. As a Data Entry Operator, you'll be responsible for entering information with a high degree of speed and accuracy, inputting large amounts of data into our customer information system and other Public Works software. This role requires excellent judgment, independent thinking, and personal initiative, as well as a strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Entry Operator, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing and maintaining utility accounts
  • Verifying account eligibility and accessibility
  • Preparing, distributing, and completing work orders
  • Preparing files for mass customer communications
  • Assisting with mailing billing statements and other notices generated in-house
  • Scanning or retaining documents
  • Performing monthly audits of incomplete account transfer requests
  • Entering data into Key Performance Indicator tracking databases
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you'll need to meet the following essential qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or acceptable equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Two (2) years of experience as a high-volume data entry operator or typist
  • Ability to pass computer skills, typing, and accuracy, and 10-key skills testing
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent judgment and independent thinking
  • Personal initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, we prefer candidates with:

  • Associate's degree in business administration, data entry, or related fields
  • Two (2) years of experience as a high-volume data entry operator or typist
  • Strong understanding of data entry software and systems
  • Experience working in a customer service environment

  • Strong typing skills (at least 40 wpm)
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
