Academic Research Helper – Students and Women Writers Welcome – Remote

Job Summary Houston Skilled Consultancy is hiring detail‑oriented Academic Research Helpers to support our clients with literature reviews, data interpretation (basic), citation management, proofreading, and the preparation of high‑quality academic documents. This fully remote, flexible role is ideal for students, return-to-work professionals, and women writers who want to build (or restart) a rewarding research and writing career while working from home. You will collaborate with senior researchers and editors to produce plagiarism‑free, well‑structured, properly referenced work across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• *

Conduct secondary research using scholarly databases (e.g., Google Scholar, JSTOR, PubMed) and synthesize findings clearly.

• *

Draft, edit, and proofread academic content: literature reviews, essays, reports, proposals, discussion posts, and presentations.

• *

Format documents according to APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, or journal-specific guidelines.

• *

Create and manage bibliographies using tools like Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote.

• *

Ensure originality (zero plagiarism) and adhere to client brief, tone, and rubric/marking criteria.

• *

Summarize complex concepts into concise, reader-friendly language.

• *

Collaborate with editors to incorporate feedback and meet deadlines.

• *

Maintain meticulous version control and file organization.

• *

(Optional) Perform light data cleaning, basic descriptive statistics, and visualization using Excel/Google Sheets.

• *

Uphold academic integrity, confidentiality, and data privacy at all times.

• Required Skills and Qualifications
• *

Strong command of written English with excellent grammar, structure, and argumentation skills.

• *

Familiarity with at least one major citation/referencing style (APA/MLA/Chicago/Harvard).

• *

Ability to read, comprehend, and synthesize academic sources efficiently.

• *

Proficiency with MS Word/Google Docs; comfort with Grammarly or similar proofreading tools.

• *

Solid time management, task prioritization, and deadline discipline.

• *

An eye for detail, formatting consistency, and logical flow.

Commitment to originality and academic ethics.

• Experience
• *

0–3 years of academic writing, tutoring, editing, or research assistance experience welcomed.

Freshers, current students (UG/PG/PhD), and women returning to the workforce are strongly encouraged to apply.

Prior experience with research tools (Zotero/Mendeley/EndNote) or statistical basics (Excel/SPSS/R—optional) is a plus, not a must.

• Working Hours
