Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product. Working closely with the Managing Director of Ocean, this individual will play a crucial role in supporting carrier development, pricing, analyzing carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and resolving carrier service issues. As an ocean subject matter expert, this professional will also provide support to sales and operations teams, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, minimizing risk exposure, and enhancing service quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and communicate strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, enhance service, and support adherence to the preferred network
• Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and developing an ocean strategy to enhance sales effectiveness and achieve account development and yield enhancement expectations
• Communicate internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and direction, working closely with the Managing Director, Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations
• Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity
• Manage the annual budget, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
• Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product, and support sales and operations as needed

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing. Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus. The candidate should be familiar with Microsoft Office applications and possess excellent communication and presentation skills, business acumen, and strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
