[Remote] Integrated Absence Claims Specialist - West Coast

They are seeking an Integrated Absence Claims Specialist to manage Short-Term Disability claims, conduct interviews with claimants, review medical records, and make timely claim determinations.

Responsibilities

• Communicating with claimants, employers and various medical professionals through phone and e-mail to gather information regarding Short Term Disability Claims, Family Medical Leaves, and state benefits when applicable
• Collaborating with fellow case managers, nurse case managers and consulting physicians to make appropriate and timely claim determinations
• Reviewing complex medical records and effectively leveraging a variety of tools and resources to understand appropriate approval durations and future action planning
• Completing accurate financial calculations consistent with company and state guidelines

Skills

• High School diploma or GED
• 1-2 years of experience in claims, leaves, or customer service
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task
• Experience with disability and/or absence management claims
• Strong mathematical skills for payment calculations
