Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Medical Billing Clerk/Data Entry Specialist to join our remote team. As a key member of our billing department, you'll be responsible for accurate data entry, claim processing, and patient information verification. If you have a strong background in medical billing, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teamwork, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities

As a Medical Billing Clerk/Data Entry Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Accurate and efficient data entry of patient information into our computer system
  • Entry-level billing of claims, including verification of patient information and checking payer portals for claims status
  • Resubmitting of claims and following appropriate HIPAA guidelines for medical records management
  • Team-oriented tasks, including assisting coworkers, meeting deadlines, and contributing to team goals
  • Maintaining a high level of accuracy and productivity in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure seamless communication and efficient workflow
  • Participating in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • At least 1 year of experience in medical billing, with a strong focus on data entry and claim processing
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Knowledge of insurance claim submission processes and familiarity with various payer guidelines
  • Experience working with Medicaid is highly preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Great references from past employers and strong tenure
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a remote environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be an asset:

  • Experience working in a similar role with a medical billing company or healthcare organization
  • Certification in medical billing or a related field (e.g., CPC, CMC)
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs) and practice management systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines

Schedule and Work Environment

As a remote employee, you'll have the flexibility to work from the comfort of your own home. Our standard working hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm CST, with additional flexibility once you've completed training. You'll have access to all necessary equipment and software, as well as ongoing support from our team.
