Job Summary As a Hardware Engineer, Microwave Design, Quantum AI, you will play a critical role in designing and developing microwave components, including filters and circulators, for our superconducting quantum processors. You will work closely with research scientists and other hardware engineers to develop E&M, mechanical, and multiphysics models to realize new filter designs and optimize existing ones. Your expertise in microwave design, simulation tools, and superconducting materials will be invaluable in helping us achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Microwave Component Design: Design microwave components, including filters and circulators, using industry-standard tools such as HFSS, ADS, Sonnet, and QUCS.
  • Filter Design and Development: Synthesize novel filter designs and develop E&M, mechanical, and multiphysics models to realize new filter designs and optimize existing ones.
  • Collaboration and Testing: Collaborate with the team to test designed and fabricated microwave components, and match measurements of existing devices with simulations.
  • Simulation Tool Development: Develop and improve the integration of simulation tools with our internal Python code base.
  • Superconducting Materials and Devices: Work with superconducting materials and devices, including design and characterization.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
  • Microwave Component Design

Experience: 1 year of experience performing microwave component design using industry-standard tools (HFSS, ADS, Sonnet, etc.).

  • Mechanical Design

Experience: Experience using Onshape (or equivalent mechanical design tools).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree: Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
  • Superconducting Materials

Experience: Experience with superconducting materials and devices, including design and characterization.

  • Mechanical and Multi-Physics Simulations: Experience with mechanical and multi-physics simulations.
  • Software Development

Experience: Experience with software design/development in Python, collaborative coding, version control, and library maintenance.

  • Mechanical, PCB, or Silicon Fabrication Principles: Knowledge of mechanical, PCB, or silicon fabrication principles and the constraints they impose on physical device design.
