Director of Business Development – IoT & Smart Infrastructure

SUMMARY: As the Director of Business Development – IoT & Smart Infrastructure, you will be responsible for driving growth by developing new customer relationships and expanding into new industry verticals. This role focuses on introducing our Intelligent Site Management (ISM) and IoT solutions to industries that benefit from smart infrastructure, remote monitoring, and operational efficiency improvements. You will be the primary customer interface, leading business development efforts, identifying opportunities, and closing new business—either directly or through partners. Success in this role requires engaging with VP-level executives, engineering managers, and operational teams to demonstrate the business and operational value of our IoT hardware and software solutions. Your immediate goals will be identifying and securing trial opportunities, as successful trials lead to long-term customer adoption. This position requires expertise in expanding into new markets and a deep understanding of how IoT and smart infrastructure solutions can optimize operations across various industries. Duties include achieving sales targets, managing trials, forecasting, building relationships, and tracking industry trends. You will also assist in developing marketing content, such as social media posts and sales collateral, to effectively communicate our value proposition. This is a remote role, and the candidate must have a dedicated workspace with strong internet connectivity and the ability to conduct live video meetings professionally. Travel will be required as needed to meet business objectives. ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Drive yearly revenue growth through new customer acquisition
  • Identify and engage target customers in IoT and smart infrastructure industries
  • Develop and maintain competitive market knowledge
  • Contribute to the creation of marketing materials and content

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand our ISM and IoT customer base
  • Identify new industry applications for our smart infrastructure solutions
  • Partner with prospective customers to understand their business needs and objectives
  • Educate customers and partners on our IoT and remote monitoring solutions
  • Effectively communicate our value proposition through proposals and presentations
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships with proactive follow-ups
  • Consistently schedule and conduct customer meetings each week
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and market shifts
  • Track all opportunities in CRM, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting
  • Own and exceed business development and sales targets for assigned industries and accounts
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Extensive travel to visit potential customers

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent
  • 5 plus years previous experience as a Business Development or Sales Executive, Sales Manager selling hardware and software IoT and controls solutions
  • Proven Business Development or Sales Executive experience, meeting or exceeding targets
  • Ability to sell technical solutions including hardware and software
  • Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from initial contact to close
  • Demonstrable experience as lead to develop client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills and ability to create customer specific presentation material
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficient in CRM (Salesforce a plus) /MS Office
