Virtual Teacher - Contract

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students? HOPE Christian Schools is actively seeking virtual teachers to integrate into our team. This part-time opportunity is available and offers the flexibility of remote work. As a HOPE Virtual Teacher, you will undertake the pivotal task of teaching virtual lessons for students. Your responsibilities will include utilizing prepared resources (lesson plans, slide decks, student activities) to teach lessons, build relationships with key stakeholders, participate in coaching sessions, and ensure student growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach lessons utilizing the provided standardized education materials.
  • Responsible for yearly plans, weekly lesson plans, and daily lesson plans.
  • Produce accurate, error-free, high-quality content that meets standards and is aligned to established guidelines and samples.
  • Adhering to established workflows and consistently meeting predetermined deadlines.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships across the team to ensure schedules and goals are met.
  • Demonstrate effective organizational and excellent time management skills, productive, efficient work habits, and the ability to prioritize, multitask, and flexibly to rapidly changing priorities and demands.
  • Attend weekly coaching meetings and professional development sessions and implement action steps.
  • Conduct interim assessments, track student progress, and perform daily data analysis to determine student mastery and diagnose areas of misunderstanding.
  • Grade homework, projects, quizzes, and daily assignments in a timely manner by following the grading expectations.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress by making regular phone calls to parents.
  • Reporting recurrent technical difficulties and other notable incidents to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Focuses on student engagement and best practices for quality virtual instruction.
  • Collaborate with the instructional team concerning student educational needs as requested.
  • Establishing relationships with students to ensure that academic progress is made over time.
  • Communicate effectively, positively, and proactively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals.
  • Assist in providing information to community groups, schools, or parents about virtual learning
  • Participate in community-based activities as requested like Meet the Teacher and HOPE Parent Teacher Conferences in-person
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree, but master’s degree is preferred
  • At least 2 years of classroom teaching experience in elementary or middle school.
  • Experience using Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) or Eureka Math/Engage NY Math is a plus.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various computer software, particularly Google Suite, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a propensity for hitting deadlines while managing multiple projects.
  • Receptive to feedback and quick to learn and implement changes.
  • Willingness to be on video for live lessons and a quiet space with no distractions to teach lessons.

  • Maintain accurate and complete records, including but not limited to attendance, behavior, student achievement data, grades, progress reports, parent communication, textbooks, etc.

  • Assume responsibility for scholar success by holding all scholars accountable to school-wide behavioral and academic expectations
  • Recognize, celebrate and reward scholar achievement and character development

  • Establish a positive, achievement-oriented and structured learning environment where all scholars are invested in their academic excellence and character growth and can fulfill their potential
  • Set measurable, ambitious, and attainable goals for the year and each interim assessment cycle
  • Evaluate individual scholar academic progress through regular and varied assessments
