Experienced Chat Moderator – Remote Community Management & Discord Server Governance

Job Description

As a Chat Moderator at blithequark, you will be responsible for:

• Moderating the chat of our official Discord server, ensuring that all interactions are respectful and adhere to our community guidelines
• Deleting messages that violate our rules, including but not limited to:

+ Hate speech or discriminatory language + Spam or self-promotion + Harassment or bullying + Inappropriate content or links

• Banning users who repeatedly violate our rules, after a thorough investigation and warning process
• Muting users who have violated our rules, to prevent further disruption
• Investigating reports made by users about potential rule violations, and taking appropriate action
• Collaborating with our team to develop and implement community guidelines and policies
• Providing excellent customer service to our community members, responding to their questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team
• Be able to think critically and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations
• Have a strong understanding of online community management and moderation principles
• Be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

• Experience as a moderator or administrator on online communities or social media platforms
• Knowledge of Discord and its features
• Familiarity with community guidelines and policies
• Experience with conflict resolution and mediation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
