Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Proofreader to help us ensure our social media is error-free. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of proofreading, grammar, spelling, style guides, and social media copywriting within the health and nutrition space and best practices for compliant copyrighting and brand claims. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and proof YouTube content at multiple checkpoints, ensuring accuracy in audio, visuals, captions, metadata, and alignment with brand style and direction.
- Proofread and fact-check social media content, including short-form copy, captions, hashtags, graphics, and subtitles, to maintain clarity, accuracy, and brand voice.
- Identify and escalate quality or compliance risks within YouTube and social content before publication.
- Communicate with video editors and social media managers to ensure accuracy across all platforms by providing feedback on grammar, spelling, and brand alignment.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Proven experience in proofreading, editing, or content review (digital media or publishing preferred).
- Mastery of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style, with ability to adapt to a brand's tone.
- Experience reviewing multimedia content (transcripts, on-screen text, thumbnails, audio alignment).
- Familiarity with AP, Chicago, or in-house style guides.
- Strong understanding of social copy conventions (character limits, platform tone, formatting).
- Excellent attention to detail and listening comprehension for spoken content.
- Ability to manage high volumes under tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
- Clear, constructive communication skills and collaborative working style.
- Commitment to maintaining compliance with brand and regulatory standards.
- Awareness of SEO and social optimization (keywords, hashtags, formatting).
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices (captions, visual clarity).
- Eye for visual accuracy in graphics, branding, and layouts.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of YouTube Community Guidelines.
- Familiarity with FDA/FTC regulations, copyright/fair-use, and health-claim compliance.
- Experience using YouTube Studio for titles, descriptions, and metadata.
Work from Home Requirements
- Up-to-date PC with Windows or Mac computer with MacOS operating system, anti-virus protection, and reliable high-speed internet connection.
- Stable Wi-Fi connection, suitable computer, and a quiet workspace conducive to remote work.
- Employees are expected to ensure their work environment is conducive to productivity, free from major distractions and without any conflicting responsibilities during scheduled shifts.
- Tech-savvy approach to everyday tasks and communication is imperative.
- Must be comfortable and experienced using Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.) and able to learn and navigate new computer software.
