  • NOTES: Due to the responsibilities of this position, the interview process will be in multiple steps. We anticipate the position beginning 1/5/26. The end date is currently set at June 30, 2026, to coincide with the end of the fiscal year. We expect to continue the position through December 30, 2026.

Anticipated interview process timeline:

  • 10/28- Posting closes
  • 10/30- Notify 1st round candidates and send out 1st round task (Round 1)
  • 11/7- (Sunday) 1st round task is due. Email the completed task to and forward it to your staffing agency contact for submission to the portal. 1st round tasks not meeting the deadline may not be considered.
  • 11/10- Selected candidates notified to move to the panel interview (Round 2)
  • 11/11- HOLIDAY TDOE CLOSED
  • 11/14- Round 2 interviews; an alternate may be added, not guaranteed
  • 11/24- Anticipated notification of the selected candidate on or by 11/24.
  • Following the recommendation to hire, the successful candidate will complete the required onboarding paperwork, and we will order the laptop for use during the contract period.

Position Summary

  • The Tennessee Department of Education seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Manager to support the IDEA Annual Performance Report (APR) Support Team. This role focuses on producing high-quality resources, creating presentations, copy editing team communications, and maintaining accurate tracking systems to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project & Task Management: Manage multiple priorities, monitor deadlines, and maintain progress tracking for IDEA APR deliverables.
  • Data Report Development: Create and format reports and resources using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, incorporating quantitative and qualitative data to inform clear narratives.
  • Presentations & Visuals: Develop polished presentations and infographics (charts, tables, dashboards) that communicate IDEA performance trends in an engaging and accessible way.
  • Editing & Quality Review: Copy edit and proofread reports, presentations, and communications to ensure accuracy, consistency, and professional tone; confirm final products meet accessibility requirements.
  • Mail Merge & Communications: Prepare mass communications or standardized reports using mail merge in Microsoft Word or other platforms.
  • Tracking & Compliance Support: Maintain internal logs for reports, deadlines, revisions, and follow-up actions; assist with tracking required LEA actions related to IDEA APR requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members and leadership, responding promptly to direction and feedback to ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in education, business administration, communications, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in administrative support, project coordination, or reporting.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and track progress of action items.
  • Strong copy editing and proofreading skills with attention to grammar, tone, and formatting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including mail merge and the ability to create charts, tables, and infographics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail in editing, formatting, and verifying data accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and adapt to feedback.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with IDEA, APR indicators, or special education terminology.
  • Experience designing visual resources such as charts, tables, or infographics.
  • Experience creating accessible documents and converting materials into PDF format.
  • Preference given to TN residents.
