Role Description
Mercor is seeking experienced mechanical engineers to support a leading AI lab in advancing research and infrastructure for next-generation machine learning systems. This engagement focuses on diagnosing and solving real issues in manufacturing engineering through hands-on scenario creation and validation. It's an opportunity to contribute your expertise to cutting-edge AI research while working independently and remotely on your own schedule.
- Write tasks and scenarios that reflect real-world mechanical engineering work in manufacturing based on your professional experience
- Create realistic situations involving product design, prototyping, testing, and production optimization
- Develop scenarios for troubleshooting equipment, analyzing mechanical systems, and implementing design improvements
- Review and evaluate AI responses to mechanical engineering queries for accuracy and technical precision
- Provide detailed feedback on manufacturing engineering scenarios to improve AI training
Qualifications
- 4+ years professional experience in a mechanical engineering role in manufacturing
- Demonstrated professional recognition and management responsibilities
- Proficient with using computers and navigating various software systems
- Excellent written communication with strong grammar and spelling skills
- Pass video interview, background check, training, and qualification quiz
Requirements
- Fully remote and asynchronous — complete work on your own schedule
- Expected workload: 20+ hours per week, with flexibility to scale up to 40 hours
- Project start date: immediately, lasting for around 6 weeks
Compensation & Contract Terms
- Independent contractor engagement through Mercor
- Hourly compensation, paid weekly via Stripe Connect
- Payments based on services rendered; contractors maintain full control over their work schedule and methods
