Job Description

As an Adjunct Instructor of Business Technology, you will play a vital role in advancing the institution's proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life, and community service. Your expertise and knowledge will support the college curriculum and programs, and you will be responsible for teaching students using a variety of effective methodologies and providing engagement and support activities that encourage student learning.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching:

Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline, make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction, and develop and use a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college, discipline, and departmental guidelines.

Academic Advising:

Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods, and provide advice and assistance to students regarding instructional or program-specific issues.

Professional Development:

Establish annual objectives for professional growth in consultation with the department chair, keep pace with developments in the discipline, learn technologies that support student learning, and participate in the evaluation process for self, department, and college.

Institutional and Community Service:

Participate in scheduled institutional service activities, participate in discipline committee or program meetings and activities, and participate in department, college, or system meetings and/or committees.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

Education:

Master's degree (or higher) in Business, Business Education, or Occupational Education, Business Administration, or Master's (or higher) in another field with 18 graduate hours in the listed fields required.

Experience:

3 years working experience in business or industry required.

Certifications:

Current Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or Adobe Certified Professional (ACP) or PeopleSoft certification required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Possess the ability to work in a diverse work environment, bilingual (English/Spanish or chosen foreign language) ability to effectively read, write, and speak both languages required, and keep current with the changes in technology related to business technology.
