The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Division of Enrollment Management is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic undergraduate students to join our team as Multicultural & Promise Program Peer Mentors. As a Peer Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting and guiding first-year students from diverse backgrounds as they navigate the transition to college life. About the Division of Enrollment Management

The Division of Enrollment Management (DEM) is committed to attracting, enrolling, supporting, and graduating the most talented students at UW-Madison. As a Peer Mentor, you will be an integral part of this mission, working closely with the Office of Admissions & Recruitment and the Office of Student Financial Aid to provide guidance and support to admitted students and first-year students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete Mentor Collective Mentor Training and attend mandatory onboarding and training sessions
  • Communicate and engage with student mentees via text, email, or in-person meetings at least twice a month
  • Provide guidance and support on topics such as transition to college, academics, campus climate & diversity, student life & involvement, and future career goals
  • Complete conversation logs and important insight flags within the Mentor Collective platform
  • Commit at least an hour per week to engage with mentees and provide ongoing support
  • Provide feedback to Mentor Collective and UW-Madison on how to improve the program

Qualifications and Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Be a currently enrolled undergraduate student with good academic standing
  • Be genuine, dependable, and enthusiastic about UW-Madison
  • Be willing to support and provide resources to admitted and first-year students

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to create your own schedule and adapt to changing mentee needs

  • Earn an $800 stipend, paid in 4-5 installments between February and December
  • Potential to earn additional bonuses during the mentorship experience

  • Network with fellow mentors and access the Office of Admissions & Recruitment Multicultural team and Office of Student Financial Aid Success Services team for community, feedback, and advice
  • Count this experience towards Leadership Certificate requirements

Work Environment and Company Culture

As a Peer Mentor, you will have the flexibility to create your own schedule and work remotely, with some in-person meetings required. Compensation and Benefits
