Blueprint Schools Network is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting educational equity and improving life outcomes for students. We achieve this through our intensive, daily, in-school tutoring program, the Blueprint Math Fellows Program. By joining our team as a Program Associate in Baltimore, MD/Washington, DC, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission to build students' math skills and confidence, enabling them to achieve academic success and enjoy learning math.

About the Blueprint Math Fellows Program

The Blueprint Math Fellows Program is a research-based, small-group math tutoring program that provides additional academic support to students as part of their regular school day and/or after school. Our program addresses gaps in foundational mathematics knowledge, promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and enables students to access grade-level coursework. With a strong focus on educational equity, we partner with public school districts and charter school networks across the United States, including Oakland (CA), Denver Metro Area - Commerce City (CO), Pueblo (CO), East Saint Louis (IL), Nashville (TN), Baltimore (MD), and Washington, DC.

Program Associate Role: Key Responsibilities

As a Program Associate, you will provide instructional, technical, and operational support to our Math Fellows Program in Washington, DC/Baltimore, MD. You will be trained and supported to serve as a Math Fellow, providing temporary coverage when full-time Fellows are absent. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Instructional Support:
    • Participating in all Math Fellow training to be prepared to teach small-group math instruction when Math Fellows are absent
    • Delivering engaging and effective small-group math instruction on short notice
    • Implementing classroom management strategies to maintain a productive classroom environment
    • Providing assistance and support to students in understanding and solving math problems
    • Following Blueprint, school, and district policies and procedures for classroom instruction and student behavior
    • Ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students
  • Regional Operational Support:
    • Supporting data-related record-keeping requests, such as attendance
    • Participating in regular 1:1 meetings with the regional Site Manager(s) to discuss program goals and planning
    • Providing weekly "check-ins" at school sites, including observing Fellow(s) and lessons, and note-taking
    • Coordinating and supporting logistics for potential professional development activities and site visits
    • Supporting Fellows with developing learning environments, such as creating bulletin boards and preparing materials
    • Assisting with regional communications, including social media, digital photography/editing, and other emerging technologies
    • Coordinating supplies, furniture orders, and inventory management
    • Managing Chromebook orders, delivery, and distribution
  • AmeriCorps Grant Management Support:
    • Providing support and coordination at the regional level with Blueprint AmeriCorps grant requirements
    • Coordinating local service projects and serving as an "on-the-ground resource" for grant-related questions
  • Other Duties as Assigned:
    • Substituting for Math Fellows providing small-group instruction as needed
    • Supporting on-the-ground or remote recruiting efforts, including regional-level candidate engagement activities
    • Participating in projects of interest determined collaboratively with your supervisor, such as creating the Blueprint video library or Fellow Professional Development articles and videos

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful as a Program Associate, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience, including a combination of administrative, technical, and educational (teaching/tutoring) experience
  • Prior teaching experience and/or experience in K-12 education (preferred but not required)
  • The ability to deliver small-group math instruction to students
  • Prior AmeriCorps or service-year experience (preferred but not required)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders
  • Proven ability to collect and interpret data
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the needs of urban school districts and the diversity of their student populations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail
  • A collaborative working style, effective at working with others to reach common goals and objectives
  • Proficiency with technology, including Google Gmail/Docs/Sheets and MS Office: PowerPoint/Word/Excel
  • Proficiency with social media, digital photography/editing, and other emerging technologies (preferred but not required)
  • The ability to access reliable transportation to travel to Baltimore/DC-area school site locations

Compensation and Benefits

The Program Associate will receive a market-driven salary (range $42,000 - $45,000) based on the competitive external market segment and in recognition of the responsibilities. In addition, Blueprint Schools Network offers a comprehensive total compensation package, including:
