Job Summary

As a Senior Back-End Development Engineer on our Platform Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our content is uploaded on time and published according to schedule, making it appear on various platforms, including the Hotstar app. You will also assist our Content Operations Team in activities related to content management. Your expertise in building large-scale platforms and systems will help us deliver a superior viewing experience to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Management: You will be the operational manager of the department and work independently, overseeing the development of multiple platforms and systems.
• Technical Leadership: You will define and implement best practices for your team, ensuring that they are adopted and followed.
• Problem-Solving: You will apply technical knowledge to solve complex, large-scale problems, working with surrounding systems and using them to find solutions.
• System Design: You will build High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) for multiple systems, including large-scale microservices.
• Collaboration: You will work closely with key stakeholders, including product managers, architects, and senior engineers, to gain consensus on solutions and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Project Management: You will break down complex problems into integrated deliverables and large projects, ensuring that the backlog is regularly updated.
• Root Cause Analysis: You will participate in group call programs, identify recurring patterns, and take action to address the root cause of issues, ensuring proper documentation, visibility, and reliability of assets.
• Team Leadership: You will be responsible for mentoring junior engineers and participating in the recruitment of top talent.

Skills and Attributes for Success

• Programming Languages: Expertise in Python and/or Golang.
• Distributed Systems: Prior experience building large distributed systems.
• Microservices: Experience designing and building large-scale microservices.
• Version Control: Experience with code-type tools like GitHub.
• Database Architectures: Prior experience in choosing a database and expertise in RDBMS and NoSQL database architectures, such as MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Asynchronous Systems: Prior experience building asynchronous systems using Kafka/Message Brokers.
• Troubleshooting: Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• CI/CD Tools: Experience with CI/CD tools like Harness/GoCD.
• Testing Components: Experience in setting up and leading microservices testing components to monitor and diagnose system issues.

Education and Experience Preferred

• Education: Tech/BE/Master's degree in Computer Science from a recognized college or related technical discipline.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in back-end software development.
