Join Oshkosh AeroTech as a Passenger Boarding Bridge Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems related to passenger boarding bridges at airport facilities. The position requires frequent travel (50–75%) to various airport locations and flexibility to work different shifts. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, can work independently or in a team, and is comfortable reading electrical schematics and using business software tools.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting of passenger boarding bridge systems to ensure safe and efficient operation

  • Demonstrate strong technical aptitude in diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues

  • Troubleshoot and repair all components of the boarding bridge, including mechanical parts, electrical systems, and control units

  • Provide comprehensive preventive maintenance services, including cleaning, inspection, and repairs of PLCs, I/O devices, and communication hardware

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and surrounding equipment to prevent performance-impacting debris buildup

  • Travel to various airport locations 50–75% of the time to support system maintenance, repairs, and installations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Two years’ experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and installation, or in a related field.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Willing to work remotely – travel is required for this position.

  • Must supply own hand and general tools. Specialty tools are supplied by the Passenger Boarding Bridge team.

  • Ability to work hours other than regular schedule such as days, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and rotating shifts

PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in airport operations.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and demonstrate understanding of electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Basic proficiency with computers and common software applications.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently, including coordination with end users, internal and external customers, consultants, and vendors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of the Passenger Boarding Bridge Technician, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces. Ladder work required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircrafts and the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good, close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good hand / eye coordination is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircrafts and around heavy equipment.
