About the Position

The Part-time Medical Procedure Scheduler is a crucial role that requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. As a Medical Procedure Scheduler, you will be responsible for scheduling patient testing, procedures, and admissions while ensuring accurate insurance information is obtained and entered into the system. This role is perfect for individuals who are reliable, organized, and willing to learn.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming calls in a timely and professional manner, providing exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
  • Schedule all patients for ancillary, surgical, and medical testing/procedures through the applicable scheduling module (i.e. Meditech), ensuring accurate and efficient scheduling processes.
  • Select accurate insurance carrier plans and inform the patient or physician office staff of any carrier that is out of network, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Inform the physician office staff or patient of any testing requirements according to the instructions and queries in the scheduling module, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
  • Ensure that any edits are performed in the scheduling module, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information.
  • Ensure physician orders are indexed appropriately, ensuring timely and accurate processing of orders.
  • Maintain knowledge of the scheduling reports for the next day to ensure department readiness in the event of any unscheduled Meditech downtime, ensuring business continuity.
  • Work closely with the physician office staff to ensure that pre-cert/authorization numbers are entered in the scheduling or registration system, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Select the correct patient medical record number consistently, ensuring accurate and efficient patient identification.
  • Maintain open communication with the registration staff regarding those unscheduled patients presenting for services to ensure appropriate testing is performed and times are available, ensuring seamless coordination and communication.
  • Utilize appropriate method/tool to communicate with Patient Access and other facility departments as necessary, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Edit medical accounts to appropriate status per facility or SSC standards and guidelines, ensuring accurate and up-to-date patient information.
  • Receive, maintain, and index physician orders per facility and SSC standards and guidelines, ensuring timely and accurate processing of orders.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of related experience required, preferably in healthcare. Relevant education may substitute experience required.
  • Work from home employees are required to have wired high-speed internet (25 MB Download, 6 MB Upload).

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with Meditech or similar scheduling modules.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
