About the Role

The Risk Information Services team is a flat capability within the Risk Technology organization, responsible for delivering data reliably across Risk. As a Senior Big Data Software Engineer, you will lead moderately complex initiatives and projects within technical domain areas, contributing to large-scale planning of strategies. You will design, code, test, troubleshoot, and document projects related to the technology space, including upgrades and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and projects within technical domain areas, driving business outcomes through technical expertise.
  • Contribute to large-scale planning of strategies, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
  • Design, code, test, troubleshoot, and document projects related to the technology space, including upgrades and services.
  • Review moderately complex technical issues, providing in-depth analysis of technologies and methodologies.
  • Resolve moderately complex issues, leading a team to meet existing client needs or potential new client needs, while utilizing strong understanding of functionality, methodologies, systems, or compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate and communicate with peers, partners, and mid-level managers to resolve technical issues and achieve objectives.
  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, providing guidance and direction to less experienced staff.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 3+ years of programming experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Hadoop, Teradata, MongoDB, AWS, GitHub, and Bitbucket.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting projects.
  • 3+ years of experience with Python and Unix/Shell scripting, Scala, Flash, HBase, Oozie, Flume, and Kafka.
  • 3+ years of experience with Ansible.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications, we are looking for candidates with:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) across all organizational levels of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • The ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and have a proactive attitude.
  • Experience designing ETL data flows using creating mappings/workflows to extract data from SQL Server and Data Migration and Transformation from Oracle/Access/Excel Sheets using SQL Server SSIS.
  • Related experience working as a Programmer at Wells Fargo.
